About
I'm Omar, based in Tunisia, finishing a computer engineering degree at ISI (Université de Tunis El Manar). Most of what's on this site came out of one habit: when something is slow or unreliable, measure it before you guess why. The BODACC pipeline's 17x speedup and CrawlViz's 40x speedup both came from that — neither was the fix I expected going in.
I work across backend systems, data pipelines, and the point where retrieval or an LLM call is genuinely the cheapest way to make a decision — not because AI is the interesting part, but because it's sometimes the correct engineering call. I'd rather ship something boring and well-tested than something clever and undertested; most of my projects carry a real regression suite for exactly that reason.
Outside of client and research work, I practice competitive programming toward Codeforces Candidate Master, and I'm weighing master's programs in Poland, Austria, Czechia, and Germany for after I graduate.
